James Smock

Trumpeter James Smock has enjoyed a varied career playing for symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, tribute artists, and rodeo bands throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. He currently serves as principal trumpet of Orchestra Nova Northwest, the Oregon East Symphony, and the Yakima Symphony Orchestra, and as co-principal with the North Corner Chamber Orchestra. He regularly performs with the Auburn Symphony, the Boise Philharmonic, the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Symphony Tacoma, and the Walla Walla Symphony.
Over the years James has played with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Des Moines Metro Opera, the Boise Philharmonic, Boise Baroque Orchestra, Portland Chamber Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony (Washington), McCall Summerfest Orchestra, Britt Festival Orchestra, the Eugene Symphony, and the Oregon Symphony, among others.
Mr. Smock has toured internationally with the award winning Elvis tribute artist Justin Shandor, and can be heard serenading oxen and wild horses each year at Happy Canyon, “Oregon’s Official Night Pageant and Wild West Show.”
James lives the artist’s life outside Longview, Washington with his beloved spouse Rebekah where they are currently between cats.
