Taking place at the New Holly Gathering Hall (Saturday matinee) and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (Sunday), NOCCO will perform a newly commissioned work by local composer Hanna Benn and performance artist Davida Ingram, along with pieces by two Pulitzer Prize winning African American Composers - Scott Joplin (1867-1917) and George Walker (b. 1922), and Alvin Singleton's (b. 1940) "Eine Idee ist ein Stück Stoff" for strings. The overture to Rossini's farcical comic opera, La Scala di Seta, and Haydn's Symphony No. 60, based on his incidental music for the play "Il Distratto", set the stage for a world premiere by NOCCO's own principal clarinetist and composer par excellence, Sean Osborn. At University Christian Church (Saturday matinee) and the Royal Room (Sunday).
